Brandon Maynard, of Danbury, age 22, was charged on Wednesday, Aug. 9 for the death of Saradina "Sara" Redman, age 21, who was found unresponsive in her residence hall on the CCSU campus in New Britain on Sunday, Feb. 26.
Maynard was apprehended in the town of Danbury by local police and later transported to the Central Connecticut State University Police Department on an outstanding arrest warrant, according to a spokesperson for the university.
Maynard was held on a $150,000 bond.
Redman, a bio-molecular science major from Indonesia was given life-saving measures by emergency personnel but later died at the hospital.
After a five-month criminal investigation by Central’s Detective Bureau, authorities zeroed in on Maynard.
He was charged with manslaughter and the sale of narcotics.
Maynard is not a student at the university, officials said.
CCSU President Zulma Toro once again expresses her condolences to the Redman family for their loss and extends her gratitude to the dedicated staff of the university police department for pursuing this case, the university said.
